Connie is an Americorps VISTA volunteer for the 2017-2018 year, serving as project coordinator of the Growing for a Healthy Future program. She recently earned a Master’s in Nutrition Science and Policy from the Tufts University Friedman School in Boston, MA. While in school, Connie volunteered with a “Farmacy” garden for WIC, SNAP, and Medicaid recipients and interned with Joy Bauer, developing nutrition education segments to air on the TODAY Show.
Prior to entering the field of nutrition, Connie earned her Bachelor’s in English from Brigham Young University in 2010 and worked for several years as a freelance writer and as a remedial English teacher at Edgecombe Community College in Rocky Mount, NC.
Connie’s interests focus on community nutrition with a special emphasis in child nutrition. She is currently assisting an NICHD-funded research project, “Impact of Food Marketing and Cross Promotions on Preschoolers’ Dietary Intakes.”
